Sharbati wheat from MP is India's premium variety — golden, bold grain with high protein (12–13%) and natural sweetness. Used for chapati, atta, and premium flour markets. Durum wheat (hard wheat) for semolina and pasta manufacturing exported to Italy and Middle East. India periodically ranks as world's #2 wheat exporter during surplus seasons.

Maize (Corn) — Feed & Food Grade

India's maize production has grown 4× in 20 years. Yellow maize (animal feed grade) is the primary export — poultry and aquaculture feed in Southeast Asia. White maize for human food. Non-GMO certification important for EU buyers. Also: baby corn (fresh/canned) for export, and high-value sweet corn for Southeast Asian supermarkets.

India grows 85% of world's pearl millet. Rajasthan is the heartland. Bajra is gluten-free with high iron (8mg/100g — 4× wheat), zinc, and magnesium. Growing export demand driven by gluten-free food trends. Exported as whole grain, flour, and flakes. Key markets: USA, EU, and African countries for food security programs.

Jowar (Sorghum)

India is world's #3 sorghum producer. White sorghum is the food-grade variety — used in flatbreads (bhakri) and increasingly in gluten-free product manufacturing globally. Red/brown sorghum for animal feed. Sorghum flakes and popped sorghum ('jowar pops') are growing export snack formats. USA is the primary export market.

Ragi (Finger Millet)

India's highest-calcium grain — 344mg calcium per 100g, nearly 3× more than milk per calorie. Unpolished ragi retains all bran nutrients. Karnataka produces 60% of India's ragi. Export demand growing strongly in health food markets for ragi flour, ragi cookies, malt powder (infant nutrition), and ragi pasta. Key markets: USA, UK, UAE diaspora.
